eTelecare AND CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL LOS ANGELES TO BRIGHTEN KIDS' SMILES WITH A HALLOWEEN TREAT FOR THIRD YEAR
MONROVIA CA, OCT. 20, 2003 –PRNewswire/ -- Childrens Hospital Los Angeles will be swallowed by a big fairy tale swamp on October 29, as eTelecare International and Children's Hospital Los Angeles present a Shrek-inspired "Halloween Hospital Happening" for the center's 200 patients.
eTelecare-Phase 2's volunteers and hospital employees will dress up in costumes drawn from the animated movies as they run an entire day of events for the young patients and their siblings. With the volunteers' help, the kids will receive costumes to wear, have their faces painted and trick-or- treat throughout the hospital for toys and candy. The party will range from activity rooms to bedsides over four floors of the hospital from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Throughout the event, volunteers will also take instant photos that the children can keep as a souvenir of the day. This is eTelecare-Phase 2's third year as a sponsor of this event and the second year that company vendor Daycom Systems Inc. has signed on to help.
"This is a treat for us, too," says eTelecare-Phase 2 co-president Jim Franke. "We're looking forward to spending the day helping some great kids with one of our vendors." As before, eTelecare will donate a variety of outfits and make-up, giving each child a chance to create an individual costume that is theirs to keep. In past years, the costumes were so popular that some kids slept in them and wore them for days according to Maria Tome, child life supervisor at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
"The kids are really looking forward to this and the staff is all asking if eTelecare-Phase 2 is coming this year. They really do an excellent job of making this fun for everyone. Last year, the kids didn't want them to leave," says Tome. "The support we get from volunteers like eTelecare-Phase 2 and Daycom Systems makes events like this possible and helps make the holidays a positive time for the children."
"It really made our year," says Armando Chacon, the Daycom Systems Account Representative who is coordinating Daycom's contribution. "It was a great day and it was fun to partner outside the office."
Employees know that the event is more than just a fun day. Franke adds, "These events affirm our commitment to the Los Angeles area, a commitment that will continue to grow as we grow our business."
